POSITION SUMMARY: The role involves the development, execution, and management of marketing and communication strategies for the Victim Service Center of Central Florida, collaborating with team members on educational outreach and program development initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing & Communications

  • Designs, edits, and produces various forms of communication including printed materials and digital content (flyers, newsletters, social media posts, etc.).
  • Oversees the content management and regular updates of the organization's website.
  • Creates and schedules engaging content across multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
  • Acts as the brand steward for the organization, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual identity across all communications.
  • Coordinates marketing initiatives, advertising campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Handles the procurement and management of branded items such as staff apparel and business cards.

Media Relations & Public Engagement

  • Generates favorable media coverage through the preparation and distribution of press releases and public service announcements.
  • Maintains relationships with media outlets and proactively pitches newsworthy stories that highlight the organization's expertise in victim support.
  • Facilitates staff involvement in media opportunities and prepares them for interviews.
  • Supports the Executive Director in representing the organization to the media as needed.

Community Outreach & Education

  • Identifies and participates in community outreach events, promoting awareness of the organization's services.
  • Acts as a representative of the organization, helping to educate the public about available resources.
  • Assists in developing training programs approved by the Education Coordinator.
  • Delivers educational sessions to diverse audiences, both virtually and in-person.
  • Collaborates with community partners to create impactful outreach presentations.
  • Locates venues for distributing promotional materials and ensures they are replenished as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Builds and nurtures partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.
  • Assists in donor engagement and stewardship efforts.
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of organizational events.
  • Develops and implements targeted fundraising initiatives.
  • Creates compelling content for fundraising communications.
  • Monitors and reports on marketing and communication activities using the organization's data management system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in marketing or communications.
  • Proficiency in WordPress and website management.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mail Chimp.
  • Strong public speaking skills and experience in community outreach.
  • Excellent command of the English language; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to engage positively with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and design tools like Canva.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

  • Completion of relevant training within the initial period of employment.
