Job Summary

Columbia State Community College seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Dean of Academic Engagement and Innovation. This leadership role will oversee the Tutoring and Learning Center, Distance Education, Media Services, Faculty Professional Development, and Center for Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and supervision to ensure the college's academic programs and services align with its mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate TN eCampus activities, ensuring compliance with TBR, THEC, NC-SARA, and Columbia State policies.
  • Represent the college at TBR Distance Education Committee meetings and initiate the introduction and adoption of emerging technologies to existing pedagogical practices.
  • Lead the instructional design team to provide guidance, mentoring, and assistance to the online course development process.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and approval of online courses, collaborating with academic division deans and TN eCampus officials.
  • Recruit part-time TN eCampus faculty and recommend to division deans, ensuring the college's academic programs and services meet the needs of students.
  • Address questions and issues that arise with TN eCampus faculty, students, and courses, maintaining TN eCampus websites and serving as the liaison between the college and postsecondary partners.
  • Oversee Tutoring Centers and activities college-wide, ensuring faculty have the knowledge and skills to adapt course materials to comply with ADA 504 and TBR mandates.
  • Coordinate high impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies to ensure maximum impact on student success.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff in the areas assigned, preparing and submitting reports as required by the institution and/or state agencies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree minimum, doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of five years full-time experience, including at least three years (preferably at the community college level) supervising online/asynchronous learning, course development, and high impact practice inclusion in higher education curriculum.
  • Supervision of academic support areas and oversight of high impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design.

  • Excellent computer application skills.
  • Experience in the supervision of instructional technologists and/or instructional designers.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects through completion.
  • Enthusiasm and adaptability in an organizational culture that values continuous improvement and change.
Working Conditions
  • Normal sitting and movement in an office environment.
  • Visual and hand usage of computer.
  • Travel to Tennessee Board of Regents offices, off-campus instructional locations, and other areas for meetings and other job-related activities.

Hiring Salary Range

$63,400-$79,250.
