Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of academic innovation and engagement initiatives that align with the college's strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee the Tutoring and Learning Center, Distance Education, Media Services, Faculty Professional Development, and Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Coordinate high-impact practice initiatives and delivery.
- Represent the college at Tennessee Board of Regents Distance Education Committee meetings.
- Initiate the introduction and adoption of emerging technologies to existing pedagogical practices.
- Lead the instructional design team to provide guidance, mentoring, and assistance to the online course development process.
- Coordinate the development, review, and approval of online courses.
- Collaborate with academic division deans and TN eCampus officials to offer online courses.
- Recruit part-time TN eCampus faculty and recommend to division deans.
- Upload and maintain faculty credentials in the TN eCampus database portal.
- Address questions and issues that arise with TN eCampus faculty, students, and courses.
- Maintain TN eCampus websites.
- Serve as the liaison between the college and postsecondary partners delivering instruction at the Columbia campus, including scheduling their classrooms and resolving student grievances.
- Be familiar with the various tools, services, and technology, and other related academic support strategies.
- Oversee Tutoring Centers and activities college-wide.
- Assure that faculty have the knowledge and skills to adapt course materials to be in compliance with ADA 504 and TBR mandates.
- Coordinate high-impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies to ensure maximum impact on student success.
- Supervise and evaluate staff in the areas assigned.
- Prepare and submit reports, as required by the institution and/or state agencies, for the areas supervised.
- Determine staffing needs and work with the Vice President for Academic Affairs to recruit, hire, and evaluate staff with an emphasis on maintaining diversity in the areas supervised.
- Develop and manage or oversee the management of the budgets in the areas supervised.
- Recommend employment and termination of staff in assigned areas to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
- Assure continued compliance of the areas supervised with criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC).
- Master's degree minimum, doctorate preferred.
- Minimum of five years full-time experience including at least three years (preferably at the community college level) supervising online/asynchronous learning, course development, and high-impact practice inclusion in higher education curriculum.
- Supervision of academic support areas and oversight of high-impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies.
- Demonstrated expertise in instructional design.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, evaluation, and budgeting.
- Ability to establish and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate external organizations and agencies.

- Experience in the supervision of instructional technologists and/or instructional designers.
