About the Role

The Associate Dean for Access, Belonging and Community Engagement (ABC) plays a pivotal role in shaping a welcoming and inclusive environment within the College of Nursing. Reporting directly to the Dean, this leader collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to foster an academic community where all individuals can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to enhance access, belonging, and community engagement within the College of Nursing. This includes identifying opportunities to attract and retain diverse talent, fostering a sense of belonging among students and faculty, and building strong relationships with external communities.
  • Lead the implementation of inclusive excellence initiatives across all aspects of the college's operations. This may involve developing policies and procedures that promote equity and diversity, providing training on cultural competency, and creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration around issues of inclusion.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all. This includes working to address barriers to access and participation, promoting inclusive teaching practices, and fostering a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College of Nursing and external organizations that support diversity and inclusion efforts. This may involve building partnerships with community groups, advocacy organizations, and government agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusive excellence initiatives and make recommendations for improvement. This includes collecting data on student and faculty experiences, conducting surveys and focus groups, and analyzing trends over time.
