We are in search of a Director of Community Services to oversee and direct our operations. This pivotal role is designed for an individual who is passionate about enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. The Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality service delivery in alignment with our mission, state regulations, and the policies of Community Options, Inc. This position encompasses all operational aspects of the region, including compliance, growth, budget management, and workforce development. Services include residential support, day programs, personalized assistance, supported employment, and individualized planning for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with state licensing and reporting requirements.
  • Establish and implement an advisory board to assist in resource development and service enhancement.
  • Evaluate operational challenges and devise comprehensive strategies to uphold program quality.
  • Propose innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to continuously improve departmental efficiency and service delivery.
  • Identify and recommend suitable grant and funding opportunities.
  • Engage in fundraising initiatives that effectively highlight the needs of the organization.
  • Foster and maintain a positive public image of Community Options and its mission.
  • Develop, implement, supervise, and coordinate all office procedures, programs, and services.
  • Advise on sound personnel practices regarding recruitment, evaluations, compensation, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to address personnel and performance matters.
  • Conduct programmatic investigations as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective management, financial, and personnel controls, providing necessary documentation to the national office.
  • Prepare required statistical, financial, and service reports as needed.
  • Interface with local, state, and governmental agencies.
  • Participate in the development of long and short-term departmental goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Ensure cooperation with the licensee and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in administrative and supervisory roles; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Completion of all state and agency-required training per state guidelines.
  • Commitment to community-based support for individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of funding sources and entitlement programs for individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, government officials, and industry associations.
  • Confidence in public speaking at events and conferences.
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate facts and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in problem-solving amidst multiple priorities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain composed in crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time management abilities.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent local travel is required using personal or company-provided vehicles.
  • May be required to be on-call in coordination with other management staff.
  • Frequent physical exertion, including lifting and stretching, may be necessary.
  • May need to lift or move items weighing 25+ pounds.
  • Exposure to various medical conditions and communicable diseases may occur.
