Job Summary

Family Service League Inc. is seeking a qualified Counselor to join our team at the Family Recovery Center in Riverhead. As a Counselor, you will provide individual and group therapy to children, families, and adults impacted by substance abuse. You will work closely with outside agencies and other supports to facilitate referrals and follow-up services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide the most appropriate and highest level of service to clients.
  • Manage a caseload of clients and provide case management services.
  • Complete intake assessments and conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Make accurate diagnoses and confer with supervisor as needed.
  • Develop and implement crisis plans and treatment goals for clients.
  • Access other necessary services for clients and complete progress notes and treatment plans in a timely manner.
  • Conduct laboratory screenings and maintain contact with client legal mandates.
  • Facilitate groups for clients and register appropriate clients in impaired driver systems.
  • Correspond with collateral family members and agencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Acquire knowledge of modalities relevant to client population and maintain a reasonable appointment rate.
  • Contact clients regarding missed appointments and obtain necessary signatures and documentation.
  • Terminate cases when appropriate and adhere to OASAS regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CASAC/CASAC-T or related education required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with substance use disorders required; experience with co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with referral sources required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; Electronic Health Records preferred.
