Status: Hourly Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality of both guest and service areas within the hotel, adhering to the standards set by Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. This role involves performing preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to uphold the quality of the hotel environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure rooms are maintained in peak operating condition through timely repairs.
  • Familiarize oneself with the Room Preventative Maintenance Program (R.P.M.).
  • Prepare the preventative maintenance cart for daily use.
  • Conduct repairs on various electronic devices such as televisions and phones.
  • Address plumbing issues by replacing or repairing bathroom fixtures as required.
  • Maintain the overall aesthetics of the rooms, including touch-up painting and fixture installations.
  • Service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within guest rooms.
  • Utilize power and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in other hotel areas, including both front and back of house.
  • Oversee the condition of hotel lobbies and dining areas.
  • Repair furniture and decorative items as necessary.
  • Handle repairs for carpets, marble, and tile flooring.
  • Maintain kitchen and laundry equipment in working order.
  • Repair or replace windows and mirrors as needed.
  • Attend to the exterior of the building and surrounding grounds.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices.
  • Lift and move equipment safely, adhering to physical requirements.
  • Conduct routine checks and repairs on operational equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Follow hotel policies and procedures diligently.
  • Adhere to grooming and dress standards set by the hotel.
  • Minimize safety risks by following established safety protocols.
  • Keep supervisors informed of any significant issues requiring attention.
  • Participate in meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare reports to aid in management decision-making and evaluation of work activities.
  • Perform all tasks in a professional and efficient manner, reflecting the hotel's commitment to excellence.
  • Execute additional duties as required to ensure smooth hotel operations.

Essential Skills
  • Effective verbal communication with guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to visually inspect work areas and hotel facilities.
  • Minimum lifting capacity of 30 pounds.
