Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a skilled Project Engineer who will leverage their leadership and engineering expertise to execute design responsibilities and oversee support personnel. The design responsibilities encompass grading and drainage planning for various development initiatives. Collaborate with staff engineers using AutoCAD to ensure successful project completion within set budgets, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyze municipal zoning and land development regulations to identify constraints affecting property development.
2. Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including ordinance reviews, utility service assessments, and site visits to formulate comprehensive development strategies.
3. Develop Concept Drawings that align with client objectives, involving coordination with AutoCAD technicians.
4. Lead the design and review of Stormwater Management and Conveyance Systems utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design tools.
5. Perform calculations for pipe sizing in stormwater systems, including drainage area mapping.
6. Evaluate surface runoff coefficients, invert levels, slope, velocity, and hydraulic grade lines using the Rational Method and Manning's Equation.
7. Ensure compliance with stormwater management design regulations at the county, state, and municipal levels in Georgia.
8. Conduct grading design to optimize value engineering through earthwork analysis while ensuring site safety through appropriate design slopes.
9. Design subdivision layouts and site plans.
10. Develop Utility Systems designs, including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer, pump stations, and other essential services, while resolving any utility conflicts.
11. Create Soil Erosion and Sediment Control designs, including stability assessments, Best Management Practices, swale, and spillway designs, along with construction sequencing.
12. Prepare Construction Cost Estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client requirements.
13. Exhibit the ability to work autonomously and lead a team of engineers effectively.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
2. 4-8 years of experience in residential and/or commercial civil land development.
3. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
4. Familiarity with local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning regulations (North Carolina).
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proficient technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and related site development designs.
7. Demonstrated expertise in Civil 3D with the capability to design site layouts from concept to completion.
8. Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively with team members.
