Summary Statement

The Housing and Community Development (HCD) division is dedicated to enhancing community livability through diverse housing options and vibrant neighborhoods. We are in search of candidates who possess strong attention to detail and a background in property management for the role of Housing Compliance Coordinator. This position entails:
  • Conducting thorough and precise evaluations for the Division of Housing and Community Development's Rental Housing portfolio to ensure compliance with intricate federal regulations and to certify tenant household income.
  • Utilizing critical thinking and independent judgment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail throughout all processes.
  • Operating under general supervision to fulfill responsibilities effectively.

Essential Functions

The Housing Compliance Coordinator will manage and execute recertification processes for all tenant households within the City of Boise's rental housing portfolio. Responsibilities include evaluating, processing, and verifying tenant financial profiles, preparing lease documents, and maintaining resident profiles in relevant software systems. Additionally, the coordinator will prepare and submit annual compliance reports to senior staff for further distribution.

The role serves as the primary contact for inquiries related to rental housing, particularly regarding recertification. The coordinator will provide information on rent schedules, leasing eligibility, and relevant policies and procedures.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and
  • 4 years of progressively responsible experience in property management or leasing within multi-family housing, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of:
  • Federal and state landlord and tenant laws;
  • Business office etiquette and procedures;
  • Basic math, spelling, and grammar skills;
  • Computer software applications, including databases and spreadsheets;
  • Record-keeping and filing practices;
  • Customer service techniques.
Ability to:
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Follow established policies and procedures;
  • Communicate effectively with diverse populations;
  • Manage challenging customer interactions;
  • Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Perform all essential functions as assigned.
Individuals must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, and Training
  • Bachelor's degree and
  • 2 years of relevant experience in federally assisted property management.
Knowledge of:
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's regulations;
  • Federal Fair Housing Laws and Disability Laws;
  • Public Indian Housing regulations, as applicable.
Licensing and Other Requirements
Valid state-issued driver's license is required.
