Job Title: Teacher (Blind/Deaf)

About Us: GeorgiaGov is dedicated to providing quality education and support for individuals with hearing impairments. We are currently seeking a committed educator to fulfill the role of Teacher (Blind/Deaf), focusing on enhancing the physical education experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities:

Physical Education Instructor:

  • Design and implement dynamic physical education curricula tailored for students from early childhood through secondary education.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere utilizing bilingual instructional methods and personalized teaching strategies.
  • Effectively manage classroom dynamics to foster positive behavior and engagement.
  • Emphasize the development of motor skills, overall fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Instruct students on essential skills for physical activity and safety protocols.
  • Adapt educational materials to accommodate a wide range of abilities among students.
  • Deliver lessons that incorporate cognitive understanding of physical education concepts.
  • Clarify and uphold safety regulations for sports and physical activities.
  • Integrate health education topics into the physical education curriculum.

Recreational Program Director:

  • Oversee afterschool academic support and athletic programs.
  • Establish objectives based on the unique needs of students.
  • Maintain communication with families regarding program schedules and activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adherence to FERPA guidelines.
  • Assess and document the effectiveness of recreational initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff.
  • Organize and manage schedules while liaising with relevant stakeholders.
  • Guarantee safety and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage public relations and coordinate events.
  • Collaborate with educational staff and athletic coordinators.
  • Develop a student code of conduct and oversee logistics for sports events.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of Georgia Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education.
  • Experience in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Prior experience in program management.
  • Familiarity with sports and games, along with proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • ASLPI rating of 3 or higher within three years of employment.

Additional Information:

This position requires a flexible schedule, including both off-season and on-season responsibilities during late afternoons and evenings. Travel may be necessary.
