Job Title: Teacher for Blind and Deaf Students

About Us: GeorgiaGov is committed to providing exceptional educational services for students with unique needs. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Teacher for Blind and Deaf Students. This position focuses on delivering tailored educational experiences to enhance the learning and development of students who are visually and hearing impaired.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Instruction:

  • Design and implement effective lesson plans for students across various grade levels
  • Utilize inclusive teaching strategies to foster a supportive learning atmosphere
  • Maintain classroom discipline and encourage positive student interactions
  • Emphasize the development of essential motor skills and overall wellness
  • Instruct students on vital life skills related to physical activity and safety
  • Adapt educational materials to meet the diverse needs of all learners
  • Provide insights into cognitive aspects associated with physical education
  • Clarify and uphold safety protocols for all physical activities
  • Integrate health-related topics into the curriculum

Program Coordination:

  • Oversee extracurricular activities and sports initiatives
  • Establish objectives based on student requirements
  • Engage with families to communicate schedules and program details
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards
  • Assess and document the effectiveness of educational programs
  • Recruit and mentor support staff
  • Organize and manage schedules while liaising with relevant parties
  • Guarantee safety and adherence to regulatory standards
  • Handle public relations and event planning
  • Collaborate with educational staff and sports coordinators
  • Develop and enforce a student conduct code for athletic events

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education in Georgia
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Background in program management and coordination
  • Familiarity with sports and proficiency in American Sign Language
  • ASLPI rating of 3 or higher within three years of employment

Additional Information:

This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including potential evening and weekend commitments. Candidates should possess strong skills in American Sign Language.
