Overview of Responsibilities:
The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a qualified Audiologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and treating children from infancy through high school who experience hearing impairments. This role includes fitting and dispensing hearing aids, as well as providing auditory training support. The position requires travel for at least 50% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and interpret comprehensive auditory assessments tailored to developmental stages.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical professionals and educational staff.
  • Evaluate the need for auditory rehabilitation services, including medical referrals and assistive technology recommendations.
  • Provide counseling to clients and their families regarding assessment results and suggested interventions.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to families and referral sources.
  • Dispense necessary assistive devices, such as hearing aids.
  • Maintain accurate client records throughout the evaluation and treatment process.
  • Work with families and professionals to monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports on diagnostic results, treatment interventions, and client advancements.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards for billing and authorization.
  • Engage in community outreach activities to promote awareness of the Georgia Mobile Audiology Program.
  • Provide educational resources and consultations to staff and community members regarding auditory disorders and their impact on development.
  • Participate in research initiatives for publication and presentations at conferences.
  • Mentor graduate students in Audiology and assist in evaluating auditory and vestibular functions.
  • Pursue ongoing training and implement new knowledge as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as an Audiologist, specifically with pediatric diagnostics and hearing technology.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations related to audiological services.
  • Expertise in educational audiology practices.
  • Experience supervising audiology technicians and students.
