Position Summary:


The Senior Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, responsible for processing laboratory samples, managing inventory, troubleshooting complex specimens, and assisting with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process laboratory samples for testing, including those sent to referral laboratories.
  • Maintain and resolve issues with sophisticated laboratory equipment.
  • Utilize advanced information systems to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory and hospital protocols, including NYS, TJC, and HIPAA standards, as well as infection control and safety regulations.
  • Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives while fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Manage inventory effectively and utilize resources judiciously.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through participation in educational opportunities.
  • Adapt to additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent coursework from an accredited institution.
  • No specific licensure is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to varying workloads.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are highly valued.

Physical Requirements:

  • May involve light lifting and carrying of materials, including equipment, with the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands for tasks such as typing, along with prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Must be physically capable of operating laboratory automation equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This position is performed onsite.

Compensation:

Hourly wage ranges from $[21.79] to $[28.04].
