We are seeking a Procurement Specialist who will report directly to the Senior Manager of Sourcing. This position involves supporting the Sourcing department and working closely with project managers to strategize, implement, and launch new packaging products. The ideal candidate should possess a strong passion for innovation, meticulous attention to detail, robust analytical capabilities, and the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Sourcing Department by collaborating with fellow Specialists and Sourcing Managers to develop new products and modify specifications.
  • Contribute to the formulation of product specifications and customer proposals, taking into account vendor capabilities, pricing, lead times, and customer needs.
  • Engage in research for new product solutions, testing and prototyping concepts, analyzing market trends, and assessing competition. Organize and compile product specifications, including design requirements, functionality, and performance criteria.
  • Support the development of project requirements, update project plans, and monitor timelines.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and promptly based on priority and urgency, while identifying or escalating risks, issues, and concerns.
  • Assist in the preparation and creation of product documentation, including customer/vendor quotes, specification documents, and other internal files.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to uncover potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Timely execute individual tasks assigned by the project manager.
  • Prepare documentation for new items and specification changes, including new item forms, specification sheets, warehouse notifications, and customer price lists.
  • Identify potential vendors that meet company standards and criteria.
  • Process incoming orders, perform follow-ups, and escalate orders as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including managing Requests for Quotes (RFQs), documenting specifications in relevant systems, and tracking all project notes throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, product development, or a related field, or 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data for informed decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of collaborating internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical aptitude for evaluating products and services.
  • Basic to intermediate technical skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, CRM).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with purchase orders, bills of lading, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 applications.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of product development methodologies.
  • Interest and experience in the packaging industry is a plus.
