SMART IT People is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity within our client's core infrastructure engineering team. This team is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge shared infrastructure platform services while striving for service management innovation as a competitive edge. Our client's engineers are committed to providing stable and efficient cloud, recovery, storage, and network platforms to support their diverse service offerings. Qualifications / Requirements

  • Proven experience in one or more public cloud environments and/or familiarity with web applications, virtualization technologies, operating systems, databases, networking, security, or software development.
  • A strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • 5+ years of progressive hands-on IT experience.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
  • Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional technical teams to deliver projects.
  • Experience with version control systems, including Git (GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, BASH, Java, Ruby, Go, Javascript, Typescript, etc.).
  • Experience with logging solutions (ELK, Aria Logs, Splunk, Sumo Logic, Datadog, etc.).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and visualization tools (ScienceLogic, Grafana, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in collecting performance data, analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing systems.
  • Understanding of ITIL best practices in a service provider context.
  • Passion for working in both internal and external customer-facing environments.
  • Strong professional experience and knowledge to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment with specific deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based applications.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in the managed services data center sector.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of production-scale systems across various application and infrastructure vendors.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy highly scalable and resilient applications within various internal and public cloud environments.
  • Support multiple infrastructure services prior to launch through activities such as system design consulting, software platform and framework development, lifecycle management, capacity management, testing, quality assurance, and release management.
  • Utilize automation to enhance the provisioning, management, and monitoring of applications and services through various scripting languages and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
  • Coordinate with Service Delivery, Development, and Infrastructure Engineering teams to design and implement zero-downtime deployment strategies, real-time logging, alerting, monitoring solutions, and code instrumentation.
  • Monitor application performance and maintain observability over key metrics for various infrastructure workloads and services.
  • Develop reusable automation following vendor best practices and guidelines.
  • Create and maintain client design documentation (diagrams, runbooks, etc.).
  • Collaborate as a team to automate the repetitive tasks associated with incident, configuration, change, and problem management.
  • Familiarity with one or more data center infrastructure platforms and APIs such as Storage (NetApp, Pure, etc.), Network (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.), Recovery (Commvault, Veeam, Zerto, etc.), Cloud/Virtualization (VMware, KVM, Proxmox, Nutanix, Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Provide insights on workload optimization, cost reduction opportunities, architecture, and design enhancements.
  • Deliver quality internal and external customer service aligned with company values.
