Position Overview:

Are you an experienced Structural Engineer looking to transition into a leadership role? KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineering Team Lead to guide our dynamic team in Northern California, bringing your technical knowledge and innovative mindset to manage a variety of complex projects.

In this position, you will oversee projects that include new construction, renovations, master planning, and tenant improvements for various sectors such as public agencies, transportation authorities, and industrial clients. Your leadership will ensure that project teams execute tasks efficiently from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Innovation: As a leader, you will inspire a team of engineers and consultants, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence in project execution. Your insights will help in developing innovative approaches to engineering challenges.
  • Project Management: You will manage the complete project lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget constraints, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Business Development: Your role will involve identifying new business opportunities, expanding our client base, and enhancing our service offerings to drive growth.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and contractors, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and expert in the field.
  • Problem Solving: Utilize your expertise to address project challenges with innovative solutions, proactively identifying potential issues and implementing effective resolutions.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with various disciplines, including architecture, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and environmental permitting, to ensure cohesive project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years in structural engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle from design to construction administration. A Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license in California is preferred.
  • Business Acumen: Proven track record in business development within the engineering or construction sectors, demonstrating success in securing clients and expanding services.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Project Management Expertise: Extensive experience in managing complex projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits for inspections.
  • May require lifting objects up to 15 lbs.
