Job Title: Security Operations Specialist

Location: Charleston, SC

Responsibilities:
  • The security personnel will conduct regular security inspections, monitoring all areas of the vessel (excluding private quarters). Specific checkpoints are equipped with Detex security systems, which will be documented using a designated security device.
  • Security personnel are required to report to the designated Officer of the Deck, duty engineer, or Commanding Officer in the event of any irregular occurrences. Irregular occurrences include, but are not limited to: alarm activations, fire incidents, flooding, unauthorized access, and other threats that may compromise the safety and security of the ship.
  • All security inspections and any irregular occurrences must be recorded in the vessel's security log.
  • In emergencies, the security personnel will activate the ship's alarm and manage the Public Announcement system.
  • When not conducting inspections, security personnel will remain in the designated control room or another assigned area, maintaining vigilance.
  • Security personnel will verify the identity of all individuals seeking access to the vessel by checking valid Government-issued or other official photo identification, denying entry to those without proper credentials.
  • Security personnel will perform morning and evening flag ceremonies as instructed by the ship's protocol.
  • Transition of duty must occur no later than the scheduled watch start time, ensuring critical information is communicated between outgoing and incoming security personnel.
  • Security personnel are expected to arrive for their shift in advance to receive briefings on any changes to procedures or special instructions from the previous watch. Approximately 10 minutes should be allocated for this exchange.
Qualifications:

- Prior experience in security operations and escort duties

Education/Certification:

- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
