Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Manager to join our team at The Catholic University of America. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a sustainability vision that engages students, faculty, and staff across campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning & Operations: Collaborate with the Director of the Office of Campus Sustainability to develop and implement short and long-term plans to prioritize and guide sustainability initiatives. Recommend sustainability policies and procedures for effective, efficient, and economical building operations. Research and evaluate new sustainable technologies, services, and opportunities for campus.
  • Engagement: Manage student engagement initiatives on campus, including the campus thrift store, community garden, food recovery program, and green move-out program. Mentor student organizations focused on sustainability and the environment. Manage staff and faculty outreach and collaboration initiatives, including initiatives to incorporate conversations about sustainability into the curriculum and the workplace.
  • Communications: Contribute to Office of Campus Sustainability marketing channels, including the website and newsletter. Design and maintain sustainability resources and tools that can assist others in integrating sustainability into their work.
  • Reporting: Contribute to the submission of internal and external reports, including annual progress reports and sustainability key performance indicators. Perform data collection and analysis on sustainability metrics. Provide easy-to-understand presentations of findings and recommendations as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least three (3) years of progressive experience in sustainability management or similar experience
  • Relevant sustainability certification(s) preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, implement, and evaluate systems and programs in support of the Office of Campus Sustainability's broad organizational goals
  • Strong knowledge of environmental best practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, and students
