Key Responsibilities of the ISSE:

  • Oversee systems and networks, reporting any failures, inefficiencies, or security issues.
  • Assist in the development of corrective action plans and maintain comprehensive network documentation.
  • Propose solutions for implementing security protocols or enhancing functionalities.
  • Work closely with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Deliver technical solutions to complex challenges faced by users and clients.
  • Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including wireless systems, firewalls, and Cisco DNA Center.
  • Manage security and connectivity for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure with on-premises resources.

Qualifications for the ISSE Role:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Several years of relevant experience, with the possibility of substituting experience for formal education.
  • Experience in roles such as Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and technical implementation.
  • Preferred technical training in Information Communications Systems, Information Assurance, or related fields.
  • Capability to secure DoD certification within the designated timeframe post-hire.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance.

Essential Skills for the ISSE:

  • Expertise in Information Systems Security
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST, and CMMC frameworks
  • Proficient in Solution Design and Implementation
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco networking, DNA Center, and ASA firewalls.
  • Experience with DoD Cryptology devices
  • Ability to generate and analyze metrics
  • Advanced understanding of Information Technology, DoD Networks, and Information Security
  • Proficiency in Servers, Virtualization, Networking, Cloud technologies, Firewalls, Wireless systems, and more.
