We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sourcing Specialist II to join our team at IEA Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for carrying out strategic procurement activities, including gathering, analyzing, and presenting data related to pricing and lead times to support procurement and operations goals.
Key Responsibilities- Solicit bids, analyze quotes, interpret proposals, and interview prospective suppliers to identify the best partners for our business.
- Make recommendations regarding the best suppliers to partner with and initiate prequalification efforts to ensure compliance with our procurement policies.
- Review spend trends and analyze based on business requirements and projections for market competitiveness of assigned commodities to optimize our procurement strategy.
- Establish and maintain supplier relationships while allowing for market competitiveness and leverage those relationships to stay aware of trends and best practices in the industry.
- Assess and categorize suppliers to determine strategic, leveraged, bottleneck, and non-critical supplier management strategies while interpreting and presenting the data collected to the Strategic Sourcing Manager along with suggestions for improvement.
- Support the implementation of industry best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement to drive excellence in our procurement processes.
- Support the Strategic Sourcing Manager with process inputs and data analysis to inform procurement decisions.
- Review, analyze, and monitor assigned supplier/subcontractor capabilities, quotes, and bids to ensure compliance with our procurement policies.
- Research and configure procurement data in support of department and company Key Performance Indicator (KPI)'s to measure our procurement performance.
- Facilitate the timely resolution of issues with suppliers related to price, quality, delivery, condition, etc. to minimize disruptions to our operations.
- Coordinate with buyers for each project and give direction related to previously negotiated materials and equipment contracts to ensure seamless procurement execution.
- Coordinate keepsake inventory and life cycles for bulk purchases to ensure that the company is maintaining an adequate inventory.
- Develop and maintain expertise on assigned products and services to provide informed procurement decisions.
- Maintain and communicate knowledge of market conditions and industry activity that may impact business and escalate concerns to Strategic Sourcing Manager as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with other procurement personnel inside the MasTec family of companies when applicable to increase and improve purchasing leverage.
- Research and evaluate new sources for assigned products and services with a goal of increasing department efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.
- Three to five years related experience; experience within engineering or construction industries preferred.
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles.
- Ability to lead and mentor others.
- Knowledge of construction contract development, negotiation, and deployment.
- Strong data analysis and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to leverage industry-specific software and data mining from ERP software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical documents.
- Advanced understanding of terms, nomenclature, and business models used in the construction industry.
- Ability to be accurate, precise, and follow set procedures and standards.
- Excellent collaboration and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
