The Texas State Auditor's Office is seeking a highly skilled Senior Auditor to perform auditing work for the state government. This role involves conducting financial and performance audits of agencies, institutions of higher education, and other entities that receive state funding.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in auditing, information technology/systems auditing, financial analysis, or relevant fields

Candidates must have knowledge of auditing standards, various audit methods, and information technology/system controls. They should also possess critical thinking skills, ability to identify and assess internal control structures, and proficiency in data analysis techniques.

The ideal candidate will be able to apply project management concepts to plan and monitor their work, supervise and coach others, and establish effective working relationships with staff and clients.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $71,000 - $104,000 per year (Auditor V) or $82,500 - $120,850 per year (Auditor VI), depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the State Auditor's Office offers benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and completing significant aspects of an audit, reviewing IT systems and controls, and preparing or supervising the preparation of documentation. You will also apply project management tools to plan and track audit timeframes, determine appropriate data analysis tools, and present verbal and written information to clients and management.

You will work independently with some guidance from supervisors and will be required to travel within Texas up to 25% of the time.
