Job Overview

Vestal Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing structural systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structural systems for ground-up, industrial, commercial, and healthcare facilities.
  • Develop strong knowledge and utilize engineering software, including RAMSTEEL/FRAME, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, TEDDS, RISA-Connect, and RAM-Connection, for design packages.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest codes and standards.
  • Assign and determine loads to structures based on project and code requirements.
  • Drive projects towards efficient and cost-effective designs.
  • Perform structural analysis on steel and concrete structural systems.
  • Design and/or analyze structural systems for local seismic requirements, researching seismic requirements for specific locations.
  • Implement Lean design principles.
  • Maintain files of calculations and structural documentation on projects.
  • Interface with project Lead CAD/Designers, engineers, and Project Managers to develop and coordinate structural system general arrangements and system details.
  • Review contractors' submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction.
  • Conduct site visits for pre-design field investigations and/or construction observations as required.
  • Develop probable construction cost.
  • Ensure compliance with Company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization's goals.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
  • Frequent communication with others, exchanging accurate information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer License required, SE preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience required.
  • Lean Design and Construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with REVIT a plus.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain required.
