Quality Assurance Leader

As a Quality Assurance Leader, you will oversee and guide a dedicated team to ensure optimal quality management, ongoing enhancement, and adherence to regulatory standards. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily quality and food safety operations in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the facility is always prepared for audits and inspections.
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive food safety and quality assurance program.
- Address non-conformance issues promptly with the quality director and plant management.
- Supervise sanitation practices to uphold a rigorous sanitation program.
- Manage pest control initiatives to maintain a proactive maintenance environment.
- Oversee the change control program to facilitate thorough risk assessments.
- Guarantee compliance with specifications and maintenance protocols, collaborating with operations to ensure adherence.
- Lead investigations into non-conformance events, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Administer hold and release protocols for products.
- Review documentation daily to ensure compliance with preventive controls and verification checks.
- Encourage a positive workplace culture among team members.
- Recruit and retain skilled personnel through effective training and development.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to quality.
- Engage in the annual budgeting process for the facility.
- Collaborate with management to identify essential capital projects supporting quality initiatives.
- Provide training on food safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Exhibit leadership during unexpected events or crises.
- Participate in facility inspections and internal audits to demonstrate visible leadership.
- Interact regularly with staff to address their food safety concerns and questions.
- Work with R&D on new product introductions to ensure compliance with established specifications.
- Act as the primary contact for customer-related quality issues.
- Manage investigations into customer complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and address any discrepancies.
- Maintain readiness for customer and regulatory visits.
- Oversee all analytical and microbiological activities within the facility.
- Develop laboratory practices to ensure accurate quality control results.
- Analyze data to identify trends and inform proactive decision-making.
- Coordinate the evaluation of raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure a robust Environmental Monitoring Program is in place.
- Promptly escalate non-conformance issues to management.
- Supervise testing of samples and generate Certificates of Analysis.
- Maintain the quality management system, ensuring all documents are current and compliant.
- Prepare specific work instructions as necessary.
- Ensure sanitation standard operating procedures are thorough and adhered to.
- Review and update all forms and instructions annually.
- Conduct management activities including performance evaluations and employee development.
- Adhere to all good manufacturing practices and corporate regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food science, biological sciences, or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in quality assurance within a food or beverage environment.
- Proven leadership experience, with a preference for candidates with managerial experience.
- Relevant certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, or SQF Practitioner are advantageous.
