Job Summary

Safely transport students, faculty, and staff between campus and off-campus locations on a regular schedule, while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the well-being of all passengers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Passenger Shuttle: Safely transport passengers on a scheduled route from campus to off-campus locations, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Special Trips: Operate bus on special trips as scheduled, ensuring timely arrival and departure of passengers.
  • Daily Inspections: Perform daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, and fill gas tank as needed.
  • Maintenance Issues: Promptly report any maintenance issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Assist Handicapped Passengers: Assist handicapped passengers on and off the vehicle, ensuring safe transport and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of passenger numbers and/or log-book as required.
  • Related Duties: Perform related duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the transportation service.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • License and Certification: Possession of a Valid Commercial Driver's License and Medical Certification Card.
  • Driving Record: A clean driving record and ability to meet federal and state driving standards, including regular federally required drug testing.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Able to exercise judgment and operate under time pressure, speak and read English to converse with residents and staff, and follow traffic regulations.
  • Work Environment: This position typically works outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, with minimal risk and observance of safety precautions typical of operating a motor vehicle.
  • Physical Demands: The work entails sitting for extended periods and frequently standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching, with eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, near vision acuity, and the ability to see and read printed material and operate a motor vehicle.
