Position Overview

The University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering is in search of a dedicated Communications & Marketing Manager to enhance the profile of the School along with its faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities
The C&M Manager will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and distributing publicity materials and news releases.
  • Writing and editing feature articles and marketing content.
  • Managing advertising efforts and overseeing print and digital signage.
  • Developing and maintaining web content and ensuring quality through proofreading.

Additionally, the C&M Manager will formulate a comprehensive content marketing strategy for the School and other departments as required, while also assessing the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, coupled with 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in media or an academic setting. The ability to convey complex engineering research to diverse audiences is essential.

Skills Required
Exceptional writing and editing capabilities are crucial, with proficiency in Associated Press Style and adherence to university guidelines. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple tasks effectively, particularly under tight deadlines. The role demands teamwork and the ability to engage professionally with the university community, including senior leadership.

Job Summary
This position involves executing the university's communications and marketing strategies for specific programs or units. Responsibilities include overseeing both print and electronic communications, media promotion, and the development of a content marketing plan. The C&M Manager will also guide team members, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with the university's brand and style.
