Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Specialist

The University of Miami Health System, Miller School of Medicine is seeking a qualified Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist.

This is a full-time faculty role at an open rank within the Department of Pediatrics. The selected candidate will take on the responsibilities of attending physician for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including those experiencing heart failure or requiring mechanical circulatory support. The service commitment is generally aligned with the division's requirements, typically benchmarked at 14-16 weeks annually and 52 on-call shifts.

This position encompasses a strong commitment to the education of pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other personnel involved in patient care. The candidate is encouraged to engage in research pursuits within basic science or clinical domains.

Moreover, the candidate will be expected to actively participate in various training and educational initiatives, lead quality improvement projects, and contribute to the development of clinical practice guidelines and protocols. Participation in simulation-based team performance and skills enhancement activities is also a key component of this role.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree is required
  • Board certification in Pediatrics
  • Board certification or eligibility in pediatric cardiology or pediatric critical care with formal advanced clinical training in cardiac intensive care medicine (minimum of 12 months)
  • Eligibility for a Florida medical license
