We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at BayMark Health Services.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a non-judgmental attitude toward individuals struggling with substance use disorder.

Job Summary

This is a Full-Time position responsible for scheduling appointments, recording patient information, preparing medical records, and assisting practitioners with treatment. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for taking vital signs, collecting lab samples, and maintaining accurate records.

A successful candidate must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as a working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule intake appointments, record and verify patient information, and prepare medical records on new and returning patients.
  • Check-in patients, escort them to and from the waiting room, interview patients, and measure vital signs, recording information into patients' electronic charts.
  • Assist the Medical Director/Program Physician/Nurse Practitioner with patient intakes and as needed.
  • Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens, such as urine and sputum, for laboratory testing.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination and disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides.
  • Act as a receptionist, perform secretarial duties, and prepare and maintain reports and records.
  • Triage/manage questions, phone contacts, and fax messages.
  • File lab results into appropriate binders and distribute lab results to counselors.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
  • Certified or registered Medical Assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Familiarity with State Regulations, DEA regulations, and TJC/CARF Accreditation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with patients, demonstrate a non-judgmental attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder population, and maintain confidentiality.
