Job Overview:
The Certified Hemodialysis Care Technician (CCHT) is responsible for executing the acute hemodialysis treatment process, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality care under the guidance of an Acute Hemodialysis Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Possesses a fundamental understanding of renal function and the implications of renal failure.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of available treatment options for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
3. Facilitates patient education regarding their condition and treatment options.

4. Conducts the acute hemodialysis procedure in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

5. Completes all necessary safety checks prior to the commencement of dialysis treatment.
6. Monitors and documents treatment parameters, including vital signs and weight fluctuations, and communicates relevant information to licensed personnel as per established protocols.

7. Adheres to infection control policies, recognizing the risks associated with non-compliance.

8. Conducts thorough patient assessments, ensuring accurate documentation and communication of significant findings to the healthcare team.
9. Collects blood samples and culture specimens as required and performs routine laboratory tests.
10. Administers oxygen as needed, following the nurse's directives.

11. Participates in CPR and emergency response as necessary.

12. Prepares the treatment area before and after patient procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
13. Maintains daily dialysis logs and prepares for patient shifts as directed.
14. Ensures a clean and organized work environment.
15. Compiles and files laboratory reports as instructed.
16. Engages in activities that promote the safe and efficient operation of the unit.
17. Upholds patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
18. Participates in self and peer evaluations to foster professional growth.

19. Encourages a collaborative team environment by providing support and assistance to colleagues.

20. Complies with all company policies and procedures, demonstrating reliable attendance and punctuality.
21. Disinfects equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and institutional policies.
22. Participates in evaluations and surveys as requested.
23. Provides training and education to both licensed and unlicensed dialysis staff as necessary.
24. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED; National CCHT Certification; Current CPR certification (AHA BLS).

Employment Requirements:
Minimum of one year of clinical experience in acute or outpatient hemodialysis is required. Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension, is essential.
