Description
As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the buildings and grounds at Vincennes University.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of educational spaces, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, and common areas.
- Sanitize and maintain restrooms to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Manage waste disposal from various workspaces.
- Conduct daily maintenance on various flooring types, including tile, carpet, and terrazzo, as well as cleaning walls, furniture, and entrances.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on custodial equipment assigned to you.
- Ensure the security of the job site, including equipment and supplies.
- Comprehend and adhere to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions and university policies.
- Occasionally lead specialized teams during peak periods, such as deep cleaning crews, and assist with landscaping, setup, and maintenance tasks as required.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Ability to operate motorized cleaning equipment safely, such as automatic scrubbers and carpet extractors.
- Foster positive relationships and effective communication with colleagues, faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Capability to perform custodial duties across all educational facilities, including specialized areas like laboratories.
- Demonstrate strong work ethics and reliable attendance.
- Willingness to work during weekends, holidays, and special assignments as needed.
- Understand and implement all safety protocols and utilize safety equipment provided by the university.
- Provide guidance to assistants and help train new staff members.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, carry, and reach for extended periods during the workday.
- Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
- Must possess adequate dexterity and the ability to work in various conditions, including heights and varying temperatures.
