Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Reporting Specialist to join our team at the Museum of Science in Boston. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the accuracy and transparency of our financial reporting, ensuring that our stakeholders have a clear understanding of our financial position and performance.

About the Role

The Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and reconciling monthly bank activity, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and streamline operations. They will work closely with the Controller and Manager to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparing and submitting reconciliations for monthly review.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage in cross-training within the department, develop your technical skills, and participate in continuous learning and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and reconcile monthly bank activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Analyze and identify areas for improvement in financial processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Manager to prepare and submit reconciliations for monthly review
  • Engage in cross-training and professional development to enhance technical skills and knowledge
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software packages, such as Financial Edge
  • A growth mindset, with a desire to learn and improve processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with US GAAP guidelines and regulations
