Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Southwest Division.
Our innovative and collaborative Concept Development Group provides an exceptional opportunity to contribute to critical capabilities for our warfighters through advanced engineering solutions.
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer will engage closely with procurement, engineering, and suppliers to foster relationships that enhance overall component quality while identifying, evaluating, and qualifying potential new vendors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining strategies and essential requirements for supplier onboarding, maintenance, issue resolution, and ongoing improvement.
- Proactively collaborating with suppliers throughout the manufacturing process to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality components.
- Addressing quality issues by coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely resolution and clear communication of dispositions.
- Implementing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions and maintain supply continuity.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee supplier performance initiatives to uphold high-quality standards and ensure timely material delivery.
Conduct comprehensive inspections of components sourced from third-party suppliers to validate their authenticity and quality.
Perform detailed root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive measures to resolve supplier quality challenges.
Maintain precise records of inspection outcomes, non-conformities, and corrective actions undertaken.
Foster and sustain robust relationships with key suppliers, emphasizing continuous improvement and collaboration.
Monitor and assess supplier performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for enhancement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure supplier performance aligns with organizational standards and project requirements.
Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers to enhance their manufacturing processes and quality control systems.
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead supplier development initiatives, including training programs and process enhancement projects.
Prepare and present supplier performance reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to supplier quality management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality Management or Strategic Sourcing, focusing on production and quality.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in conducting thorough root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements pertaining to supplier quality management.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Proficiency in utilizing quality management tools and software.
Willingness to travel as necessary to visit supplier sites and conduct audits.
Able to work autonomously and ensure tasks are completed with minimal supervision.
