Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in Manufacturing

TransCore-Amtech Systems (AMS), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is looking for a dedicated Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to become part of our dynamic team.

Position Overview

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be accountable for the development, assessment, and execution of quality assurance methodologies, protocols, and statistical approaches.

  • Engage in the implementation and oversight of processes for an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
  • Conduct internal audits of quality management system procedures.
  • Perform root cause investigations for process and product discrepancies.
  • Facilitate the completion of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Execute failure analysis and reporting for RFID products.
  • Analyze data regarding product and process performance utilizing statistical methods.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive product and process enhancements.
  • Support the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control program.
  • Conduct supplier site evaluations for qualification and nonconformance issues.
  • Participate in engineering design teams to provide quality insights for new product initiatives.
  • May oversee IPC solder certification training activities.
  • May supervise team operations.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential function effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary background, knowledge, skills, education, and abilities required.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Capability to compose and interpret technical documentation.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and related software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, work independently, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including mentoring, training, and presentation abilities.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures for new or specialized assignments.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Quality Assurance Engineering.
  • Preferred certifications: American Society of Quality - Certified Quality Engineer, Manager, or Auditor; IPC Solder Standards: IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721; ANSI/ESD S.20.20 Electro-Static Control Program.
  • Experience with MRP systems (e.g., Visibility) is desirable.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally. The employee frequently needs to stand and sit, and occasionally walk. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical components, fumes or airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
