Chicago, Illinois, United States Gusto Full time

About Gusto

Gusto is a modern, online business platform that helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage their teams. In addition to full-service payroll, Gusto offers health insurance, 401(k) plans, expert human resources (HR) services, and team management tools. Our offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York serve over 300,000 businesses nationwide.

Our Mission

We aim to create a world where work empowers a better life, starting right here at Gusto. To achieve this, we're committed to building a collaborative and inclusive workplace, both physically and virtually. Learn more about our company culture.

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Embedded Core API team. In this role, you'll work to develop and improve the APIs that enable Embedded partners to build high-quality experiences. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and business development, to deliver high-quality APIs and components that empower our partners to build their own Gusto-powered applications.

About the Team

Our Embedded team is a new business unit driving innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third-party SME platform to build, sell, and serve payroll services to their customers, however they wish. Our API offering allows other companies to offer payroll services to their customers inside their app or service. By creating a seamless payroll experience for SMEs, we'll bring Gusto's platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly. Learn more about our partnerships with leading companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that improve the products of our Embedded partners.
  • Work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Customer Experience (CX), Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross-functional problems.
  • Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, especially related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.) to push our product experience to the next level.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product management with experience building API-first technical products for developers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical products, from concept to launch, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Expertise and passion for working cross-functionally and influencing platform teams within larger organizations.
  • Analytical mindset and proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with experience using metrics and analytics tools to drive product insights and improvements.
  • Experience in fintech, payroll, or HR is a plus.

Compensation

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $144,000 to $178,000 per year in Denver and most major metro locations, and $186,000 to $230,000 per year for San Francisco, New York, and Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience, and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Work Arrangements

Employees who are based in our office locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days, approximately 2-3 days per week. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic.
