Chicago, Illinois, United States Gusto Full time

About Gusto

Our comprehensive suite of services includes full-service payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, expert HR, and team management tools. With a strong presence in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we serve over 300,000 businesses nationwide.

Our Mission

We strive to create a world where work enables a better life, starting right here at Gusto. Our commitment to building a collaborative and inclusive workplace drives our mission forward. Learn more about our company culture.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Embedded Core API team. In this role, you will work to develop and improve our Embedded API, enabling partners to build high-quality experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and business development, to deliver high-quality APIs and components that empower our partners to build their own Gusto-powered applications.

About the Team

Our Embedded team is a new business unit driving innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third-party SMB platform to build, sell, and serve payroll, however, they wish. Our API offering allows other companies to offer payroll services to their customers inside their app or service. By creating a seamless payroll experience for SMBs, we will bring Gusto's platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly. Learn more about our partnerships with leading companies.

This is an opportunity to join a team from the ground up and take our business growth to the next level by unlocking product differentiators beyond payroll into HR, benefits, and other people platform features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that improve the products of our Embedded partners.
  • Work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, CX, Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross-functional problems.
  • Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, especially related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.) to push our product experience to the next level.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product management with experience building API-first technical products for developers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical products, from concept to launch, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Expertise and passion for working cross-functionally and influencing platform teams within larger orgs.
  • Analytical mindset and proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with experience using metrics and analytics tools to drive product insights and improvements.
  • Experience in Fintech, Payroll, or HR is a plus.

Compensation

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $144,000 to $178,000/yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $186,000 to $230,000/yr for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience, and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Work Arrangements

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.
