The Control Systems Technician will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, troubleshooting, installation, and replacement of all electronic, electrical, and mechanical devices related to instrumentation necessary for the effective and safe functioning of the cement production facility. The role encompasses a variety of tasks that management may find essential, including but not limited to the following.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proficiently read, interpret, and implement all schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, and related documentation.
  • Comprehend and execute all facets of the maintenance program, including preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as reporting.
  • Understand and apply warehouse protocols.
  • Familiarize oneself with all administrative processes pertinent to the facility.
  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install, and replace all electronic, electrical, and mechanical apparatus related to instrumentation and its associated systems.
  • Utilize all necessary tools and systems to perform tasks effectively (including personal computers, calibration tools, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Possess a solid understanding of the cement manufacturing process.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of physics as it pertains to instrumentation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical Systems: Work will involve, but not be limited to, the following major systems:
  • Laboratory Equipment: Atomic Absorption, Balances, Presses, X-Ray, etc.
  • Sampling Systems: Gamma Metric, Raw Mill Sampling, etc.
  • Process Control: Software aspects including loops, alarms, interlocks, and point definitions; Hardware components such as I/O cards and related devices. Flow measurement devices including feeders, impact plates, weight devices, load cells, strain gauges, etc. Process instrumentation including gas analyzers, gas sampling systems, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, level sensors, vibration sensors, actuator sensors, etc. Miscellaneous plant systems including phone systems, intercoms, halon systems, and uninterruptible power supplies.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While executing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently must stand, walk, sit, and utilize hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is often required to reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height, as well as climb or balance on stairs and ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee will navigate uneven surfaces, including rocky, muddy, and icy areas during winter. The employee may need to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Other Experience Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language is essential.The selected candidate will be required to join the Union at the facility upon completion of a probationary period.
