Tehachapi Cement LLC is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to join our team in Tehachapi, CA. This role will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for overseeing the quality control department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the quality control department to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement laboratory strategies to align with plant and company goals for product quality.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to lab personnel to ensure accurate and precise analysis of materials.
  • Collaborate with production management to address quality concerns and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date quality control records and lab reports.
  • Foster a close working relationship with Sales & Marketing and customers to ensure quality meets customer expectations.
  • Ensure procedures are in accordance with all applicable CalTrans, NSF, ASTM, CSA, and AASHTO requirements and specifications.
  • Interpret quality control test results, isolate problems, and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and authorize letters of certification and mill test reports.
  • Serve as liaison with other departments to adjust internal set points for process operations to maximize product quality.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures.
  • Evaluate potential beneficial use of raw materials for possible use in cement manufacturing process.
  • Manage automated laboratory, Historian/LDMS/AMLA administration.
  • Manage compliance with DOT certifications.
  • Manage CIP efforts in the plant.
  • Perform ball mill and separator inspections.
  • Design and optimize ball mill charge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the cement industry.
  • Thorough understanding of cement chemistry, X-ray, advanced chemical, physical, and microscopic analytical and testing procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant ASTM specifications and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical skills and detail orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Excel abilities.
Preferred Experience and Skills
  • Quality control supervision
  • SAP
  • Inventory management systems
  • Familiarity with computer programming languages (macros, javascript, etc.)
