Job Title: Dietary Aide

At Tri-State Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Dietary Aide will be responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. This includes assisting in food preparation, handling food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures, and operating equipment in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Report to work on time, in uniform, and ready for duty.
  2. Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures.
  3. Operate equipment in a safe manner.
  4. Report any discrepancies in the food service area to the department supervisor.
  5. Deliver and retrieve food carts to and from the customer area.
  6. Set up trays for meals and work the tray line position.
  7. Process soiled trays, dishes, and utensils through the dishwasher.
  8. Control the use of soap and cleaning agents in the dishwasher.
  9. Return clean items to their designated places.
  10. Assist in the serving of food on the tray line.
  11. Wash pots, pans, and other equipment as necessary.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the work area.
  13. Perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including scrubbing and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and emptying trash cans.
  14. Stock food and paper goods in the storeroom area.
  15. Prepare snacks and beverages for customers between meals.
  16. Prepare nutritional supplements and tube feeding products and deliver them to customer areas.
  17. Report malfunctioning equipment to the Food Service Director.
  18. Put customer service first by ensuring that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow written and oral directions in the English language.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling.
  • Ability to follow diet lists, portion food as specified, and serve food in an appetizing manner.
  • Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow written and oral directions in the English language.
  • Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

Performs Related Duties:

  • Interact with customers, families, visitors, and facility subsidiary personnel.
  • Carry out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.

Working Conditions:

The Dietary Aide will work in a fast-paced food service environment with frequent exposure to food, cleaning agents, and equipment. The ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude is essential.
