Job Summary

The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with facility policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.
  • Report any allegations of resident abuse or neglect to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Charge Nurse on Duty.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Assist in serving meals and pouring beverages.
  • Prepare and serve in-between meal nourishment snacks.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, following established policies and procedures.
  • Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, food storage, and other areas as directed.
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils and equipment are readily available for the next meal.
  • Carry out garbage and maintain work areas clean, dry, and free of hazardous equipment and supplies.
  • Assist the cook in preparing meals as needed.
  • Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Ensure the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor immediately.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
  • Report missing or illegible labels or safety data sheets to your supervisor.
Job Requirements
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • If required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the requirements contained in the Company's Motor Vehicles policy.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
