Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, delivering treatment services aligned with the Center For Discovery Clinical Model.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct face-to-face assessments for each prospective admission, ensuring medical suitability for facility admission.
  2. Collaborate with medical and psychiatric providers to obtain necessary admission orders.
  3. Implement and monitor all medical and psychiatric orders effectively.
  4. Verify that patients have provided informed consent for medications prior to administration of the first dose.
  5. Administer prescribed medications and document their effectiveness within designated timelines.
  6. Engage in regular discussions with medical staff and treatment teams regarding patient care, needs, and interventions.
  7. Assess and address medical issues as required.
  8. Perform vital signs, basic evaluative procedures, blood draws, and tests.
  9. Manage NG tube maintenance and administer bolus feeds when appropriate.
  10. Ensure that all medications required by patients are accurately ordered and available within the facility.
  11. Communicate effectively and professionally with families and loved ones, as necessary.
  12. Provide milieu management throughout the treatment process, ensuring communication with all team members.
  13. Document patient progress objectively and accurately, adhering to policy requirements.
  14. Assist in the discharge process as needed.
  15. Evaluate patient suicidality and assess potential risks to self or others.
  16. Coordinate with referral sources and outpatient providers to ensure continuity of care during admission, midpoint, and discharge.

Medication Management:
Oversee the medication management system, which encompasses medication planning, storage, ordering, transcribing, administration, monitoring, and evaluation.

It is essential to participate in meal and snack times during each shift, providing supervision and support to patients.

This is a full-time role with scheduled shifts on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM.
