Job Title: Research Scientist Intern - Flexible and Stretchable Electronics

Meta is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist Intern to join our Reality Labs team in Redmond, WA. As a Research Scientist Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in flexible and stretchable electronics, developing next-generation wearable devices.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new flexible and stretchable electronics for wearable devices.
  • Conduct literature reviews and experiments to guide hypothesis and results.
  • Communicate and document experimental plans and results to a team of engineers and scientists.
  • Collaborate with the Reality Labs Research team to provide creative leadership on active material technologies.
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing or has a PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a relevant technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a lab environment, specifically working with soft elastomers, liquid metals, flexible electronics, printed electronics, stretchable electronics, soft robotics, wearable devices, or related fields.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in patterning liquid metal or fabricating liquid-metal based electronics.
  • 2+ years of experience with soft material characterization techniques or developing custom material testing hardware.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results, demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, and publications in leading workshops, conferences, or journals.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Intent to return to a degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
  • Availability for a minimum of 16 consecutive weeks.
