About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Care Professional to join our team at Amherst College. This is a full-time, year-round position with an estimated annual salary of $75,000 - commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, assess, plan, and implement nursing care according to the needs of each patient, based on appropriate standards of practice and as ordered by the physician or advanced practitioner.
  • Follows nursing protocols under guidance of the physician or advanced practitioner, independently assessing students with urinary tract infections, sore throat, or conjunctivitis.
  • Provide direct nursing care, treatment, and medications to patients with medical and nursing needs, including vital sign measurements, patient medical, family, and medication history, immunizations, tuberculosis screening, wound care, intravenous fluid administration, phlebotomy, injection medication treatment, and teaching.
  • Communicate effectively with students via email and patient portal, providing coverage for Certified Medical Assistants rooming patients and following up on testing or immunizations as ordered by the treating provider.

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • A current Registered Nurse license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Certified in basic CPR.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Sheets, and documents, as well as the use of Electronic Health Records.
  • Experience working with a diverse community.
