Position Title: Load Quality Inspector
Compensation: Starting at $19 to $23 per hour, based on experience
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or until all loads for the day have been thoroughly checked.
Work Location: Pasco, Washington
The Load Quality Inspector is responsible for accurately verifying all orders, including deliveries and large will-call requests. This role is crucial in ensuring that every order is correctly tagged with the appropriate type and size of materials, quantities, and the proper arrangement of items in the load. The inspector must ensure that all goods are sellable and free from damage.
This position plays a vital role in larger facilities to guarantee that all shipments are delivered on time and in full. Identifying errors while trucks are still on-site saves significant time and resources, contributing to PARR's commitment to Legendary Service Through Teamwork.
The Load Quality Inspector reports directly to the Yard Manager and collaborates daily with Load Builders, Receiving Coordinators, Regional Yard Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives, and Drivers.
Qualifications
- OSHA Certified Forklift License (training provided)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or at least 1 year of experience in load building
- Proficiency in English required
- Understanding of proper labeling, protection, and damage prevention for loads
- Ability to accurately calculate linear footage on orders
- Capability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices
- Experience in safely loading and unloading materials
- Proficient in operating forklifts, banding machines, tin snips, tape measures, power saws, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other necessary equipment
- Familiarity with using safety gear required for this role
- Competence in using personal computers, smartphones, scanners, and other essential tools
- Two years of experience in load building and/or yard/warehouse settings preferred
- Two years of experience with dimensional lumber, panel products, and other construction materials preferred
- Knowledge of receiving and inventory control practices preferred
- Ability to assess grades of lumber and other materials preferred
- Acceptable driving record preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure loads are constructed safely and accurately by interpreting picking tickets and invoices
- Assist in identifying damaged materials
- Complete and scan necessary paperwork according to company policies
- Maintain cleanliness in the yard during work hours
- Address mistakes with the team to implement necessary corrections
- Conduct daily safety audits of forklifts and report any equipment malfunctions
- Help prevent material damage
- Identify opportunities for best practices in product handling and packaging for adverse weather conditions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 90 pounds and carry objects up to 50 feet
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle when necessary
