Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Financial Counselor, your duties will encompass reviewing the Financial Clearance Worklist, engaging with in-house patients, collecting estimated patient liabilities, and clarifying financial responsibilities while collaborating with external agencies to secure financial coverage for patients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to AIDET guidelines in all patient interactions.
  • Exhibiting exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborating with Medicaid Eligibility Staff to assist uninsured patients.
  • Providing financial estimates to patients and/or physicians as needed.
  • Generating daily insurance verification and precertification reports, coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Following established Cash Handling policies.
  • Utilizing eligibility systems and communication channels to ascertain insurance benefits.
  • Assisting patients with payment arrangements and financial applications.
  • Contacting employers for verification of employment and insurance status.
  • Escalating concerns to the Patient Access Manager/Supervisor as necessary.
  • Documenting pertinent insurance information in the HIS system.
  • Maintaining professionalism and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Conducting financial analyses and collecting estimated patient liabilities.
  • Following up with patients for required signatures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
