Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Workforce Studies Research Fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a part-time basis, with a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week. The fellow will be responsible for conducting research projects, analyzing data, and producing high-quality reports and presentations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research projects on physician workforce trends and issues, including COVID-19's impact on physician work patterns, location choice, and wellbeing
- Analyze data from various sources, including the National Sample Survey of Physicians (NSSP) and AMA Physician Data
- Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Collaborate with senior members of the Workforce Studies team and other AAMC staff to develop research projects and reports
- Provide research and data analysis support to the Workforce Studies team as needed
- Currently enrolled in a degree-granting, graduate-level education program in public health, economics, public policy, or other social science fields, or a medical resident with graduate-level training in social science fields
- Strong interest in improving healthcare services in the United States
- Experience in analyzing survey data and proficiency with statistical software such as Stata, SAS, R, or equivalent
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining accuracy and impartiality in all work products
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Capability for teleworking, if chosen
- Access to a workspace, a laptop computer with the necessary software programs, and related AAMC datasets as appropriate
- Opportunity to work on a part-time basis with a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week
- Chance to build a publication portfolio in physician workforce research
