Quality Technician Job Description

This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of finished products during and after production, as well as conducting warehouse inspections. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of manufacturing and processing specifications, product testing equipment, and calibration of equipment. Additionally, they should be able to read close tolerance gauges, meters, and tape measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facer sampling and testing
  • Performing various types of testing, including foam core density, compressive strength, dimensional stability, cold box, and facer peel (adhesion)
  • Attribute testing for aesthetics
  • Inputting data into the quality assurance database/SAP and SAPI system
  • Factor testing and assisting with plant trials
  • Warehouse unit inspection and audits
  • Understanding and using T3P's
  • Housekeeping of the plant
  • Assisting in training new team members
  • Filling in other areas of the plant as needed
Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of processing specifications and quality standards for products
  • Knowledge of safety aspects of all equipment and the plant's general safety policies
  • Understanding the impact of sending incorrect or defective products
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment safely
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, technical school preferred
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • 2+ years of previous experience working as an operator in a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions:
  • Activities occur inside an insulation manufacturing facility
