Position Overview

CHOP is looking for a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Inpatient Endocrine team at the Main Hospital.

The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is recognized as one of the premier pediatric endocrinology and diabetes centers nationwide. Our expert team collaborates with patients locally and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions, utilizing relevant data to assess physiological stability and formulate care plans.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health issues, as outlined in the Scope of Practice Document.
  • Analyze the risks and benefits of therapeutic interventions, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Manage care plans through ongoing evaluation and documentation, focusing on optimizing patient outcomes.
  • Incorporate health promotion and injury prevention strategies into care plans for patients with complex health needs.
  • Facilitate patient transitions across various healthcare settings.
  • Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research and education, while also contributing to the professional development of peers.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety by proactively addressing safety concerns and enhancing practices.

Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an inter-professional team environment.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records and clinical information systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and clinical communication systems.
  • Ability to critically evaluate clinical information and incorporate it into practice.
  • Knowledge of policies regarding confidentiality and privacy in clinical settings.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Required upon hire.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Pennsylvania) - Required upon hire.
  • Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania) - Required within 3 months of hire.
  • Specialty Certification in relevant subspecialty - Required upon hire.
