Lead Cybersecurity Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team at KLH Consulting, Inc. in Santa Rosa, California.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing system and network operations support in our 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC). This role requires direct interaction with customers and involves monitoring network traffic and activity for anomalies and threats.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on mail platforms, virtualization, networking, Office 365, Active Directory to AzureAD, and common third-party applications.
- Monitor network traffic and activity for anomalies and threats, playing a crucial role in safeguarding client devices, networks, and data from potential threats and unauthorized access.
- Perform scans, security assessments, and penetration tests.
- Document potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate new systems and networks to identify potential vulnerabilities that could be exploited by attackers.
- Contribute to a security committee responsible for protecting company data and sensitive information.
- Take the lead in day-to-day monitoring of unusual activities, review of defensive protocols, and reporting of incidents.
- Perform daily management of SIEM, vulnerability scans, intrusion detection systems, data encryption, and other security controls.
- Assist KLH Staff, including Account Managers, in employee training with a security-first mindset.
- Collaborate with other senior staff and the NOC team to develop new protocols, protections, and other proactive and defensive systems for staying ahead of cybercriminals.
- Maintain documentation of security guidelines, procedures, standards, and controls.
- Perform weekly security reports and maintain knowledge of current cybercrime tactics.
- Run monthly reports required to support NOC service programs.
- Follow established processes for assessing and prioritizing workflow, including remediation and escalation paths to ensure that issues are dealt with promptly.
- Clearly and concisely communicate with internal and external customers regarding projects, security implementations, and issues.
- Use the ticketing system to clearly and concisely document requests, issues, and resolutions.
- Perform a combination of security program work, project work, service tickets, and program management, focusing on areas such as security education, end-point security architecture, and remote monitoring and maintenance.
- Contribute to KLH's 2FA, EDR, Anti-Spam, mail flow, phishing, URL content filtering, disk encryption, and other security programs.
- Implement security policies and protocols, identifying where systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations or policy.
- Write reports on the efficacy of current security policies, incident responses, disaster recovery plans, and other security-related information.
- Detect and manage cyber-attacks, staying organized to minimize damage, recovery time, and total cost.
- Implement firewalls rules, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, or endpoint security solutions to reduce malicious attacks.
- Perform various engineering tasks, including documenting system configurations, performing system installations, troubleshooting network problems, securing network systems, configuring routing/switching equipment, and hosted IP services.
- Monitor networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions.
- Develop automation scripts to deploy software to clients for various projects.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A strong background in cybersecurity, with experience in SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanning solutions, and multiple years of using cybersecurity tools.
- Knowledge of network routing and storage systems, current Windows server and desktop OS, VMWare, and cloud environments.
- Experience with network/systems maps, diagrams, flowcharts, charts, and other documents.
- Familiarity with network security and encryption technologies and shell scripts for automating routine tasks.
- Proficiency in MSP tools or other network management and monitoring tools.
- CompTIA A+ education or training.

KLH Consulting, Inc. offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
