The Senior Director of Gift Planning and Foundations will play a critical role in advancing the mission of The Navigators by leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive gift planning and foundations strategy. This position will oversee the strategy, planning, and execution of fundraising functions related to major foundations and gift planning, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall advancement goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervision and Leadership: Interviews, hires, trains, manages, and develops the Gift Planning and Foundations teams, including the administration of disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Strategy and Planning: Develops, implements, and manages a comprehensive Gift Planning marketing and communication strategy in coordination with current Advancement marketing channels, direct mail, internet, telephone, sustainers, and print advertisement.
- Gift Planning and Foundations: Identifies gift planning prospects and leads Gift Planning Officers to properly cultivate and close complex gift plans. Implements customized strategic cultivation and solicitation plans for specific gift planning ministry partners.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinates fundraising efforts with other Advancement staff, especially Ministry Partner Advisors, to properly cultivate and close current and future legacy gifts. Serves as a subject matter expert to members of Advancement, to raise resources and special project funds.
- Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Knowledge of Navigator missions, ministries, and networks preferred.
- Experience: At least five years of Director-level experience in major gift and gift planning fields, including knowledge regarding foundation grants and Gift Planning options.
- Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency. Strong organizational skills.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written, to create understanding and build strong relationships.
- High-Deductible Health Plan: Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, FSA, Life Insurance, Disability, EAP, 401a and 403b retirement options.
- Up to 15 paid holidays per year, accumulating PTO (vacation, sick, personal).
