Water Treatment Operator

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment within an industrial facility. The primary goal is to purify water to meet customer specifications and comply with state discharge permit requirements.
Some experience in a related field and work environment is preferred.
The role requires a consistent demonstration of the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machinery and equipment, meeting or exceeding processing, quality, and safety standards.
Operators must demonstrate proficiency in handling equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed systems, sludge processing filters, belt presses, and various measuring/control devices, as well as testing and material handling equipment.
Teamwork is essential, and a willingness to take on additional or new responsibilities is expected.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those encountered while successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
Work Environment:
The operator spends 100% of their time in an operational environment. They may need to work outdoors in inclement weather and operate a company vehicle to fulfill job duties.
Possible Work Hazards:
Exposure to operational hazards may include fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, extreme temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards, and electrical equipment.
Physical Demands:
The operator will spend approximately 50% of their time standing and 50% walking, potentially covering up to five miles per shift.
While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to use hands for handling, reaching with arms, and communicating verbally.
The employee may occasionally need to stoop, kneel, or crouch and enter confined spaces. Use of ladders or stairs may be required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Close visual observation is necessary to detect process non-conformance and machine malfunctions.-
