Electrical Engineer Avionics Job Description

Astranis is a company that aims to connect the four billion people in the world who do not currently have access to the internet. We are building the next generation of smaller, lower-cost spacecraft to bring the world online.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer Avionics to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer Avionics, you will be responsible for designing the flight hardware that forms the backbone of our satellite's internal communication, power distribution, sensor aggregation, and flight computer systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design circuits and PCBs for various spacecraft subsystems
  • Test and validate hardware systems across the spacecraft
  • Assist with low-level software to interface with various spacecraft subsystems
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to design and execute for satellite avionics
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team
Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent technical degree
  • A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
  • Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch
  • Strong analog/mixed-signal circuit design skills
  • Experience with debugging circuits with embedded software, from oscilloscope to firmware
  • US Citizenship or Green Card
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FPGAs, Microcontrollers, and communication schemes (RS-485, SPI, Ethernet, I2C)
  • Experience with C, C++, or Python
  • Radiation effects knowledge
  • Environmental test experience
  • U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required
